  13. it's easy to use type
  14. grabnews newsserv group YYMMDD HHMMSS distrib
  15.  
  16. newsserv is the name of the news server you use.
  17. group the name of the newsgroup you want.
  18.   Note only one. I told you it was a hack.
  19. YYMMDD HHMMSS year month day hour minutes secs since last news fetch
  20. distrib is an optional distribution list
  21. alternatively you can use
  22. grabnews newsserv
  23. and the rest will be loaded from a file.

  26. grabnews requires 2 system variables setup these could be setup by KA9Q
  27. (don't forget the create a directory to hold the message id history)

  29. nntp$dir holds the history directory and a file 'nntplast' used to hold the
  30. groupname and time of the last newsfetch. this file can be used but you must
  31. include something on the distribution line otherwise it will grab a random
  32. piece of memory and use that as the string! Note: the history directory must
  33. be created by hand.

  35. <mail$dir>.folder is a directory to conatain the downloaded batches news file.

  37. grabnews is the non debug version
  38. grabnewsDB output heaps of information about what's going on.

  40. I've only tested this program on a small news group on demon. It worked for
  41. me last time I tried it.

  43. The file test can be used to test out newsbase which only partly impliments
  44. nntp but it shows it all works.

  46. I've hacked most of the source files to some extent. most came from Stewart
  47. a few weeks ago. most of the changes to his code were to get it working with
  48. Cv.4
